NON-PROFITS DOING COMPUTER SCIENCE RESEARCH

These non-profits have compute resources to do models and algorithms research similar to research labs in universities and industries. They provide further investigations in weakness and performance issues associated with released models, etc. An example is OpenAI.

NON-PROFITS DOING NON-CS RESEARCH WITH CHARITY MISSION

These non-profits, such as SAFE AI Foundation, focus on public facing AI communications, advocacy for Good AI, openness, AI policies, charity work, perform AI risks evaluation, monitor AI trends, alerts on upcoming AI risks, perform AI predictions, educate, and shape AI directions, etc.

The SAFE AI Foundation will not duplicate efforts that are already done at universities, industry research labs, and national labs. We cover both good and bad aspects of AI. In fact, the foundation's work has 4 main pillars:

• INVESTIGATE

• EDUCATE

• EMBRACE

Updates: We have reached out to several AI non-profits but unfortunately, not all non-profits are open to collaborate or communicate or unite. Despite this closed-door culture, the SAFE AI Foundation will continue to pursue its mission in an open and collaborative manner moving forward.
