AI Standards
Standards take a long time to develop and needs a lot of consensus building. The success of AI Standards depends on whether they are widely adopted and used.
Currently, not all AI industries, universities and government agencies have endorsed nor agreed to strictly follow such standards. The following are some standards that were developed to mitigate AI Risks and to include AI Ethics.

ISO/IEC 42001:2023 AI Management System Standard
The ISO/IEC 42001 is the first certifiable AI Management System (AIMS) standard that provides a structured framework for organizations to manage the AI risks throughout its lifecycle.
The International Organization for Standardization / International Electrotechnical Commission is a joint technical committee responsible for developing worldwide standards for electronics, IT, and telecommunications to ensure safety, reliability, and interoperability.
NIST AI Risk Management Framework
The NIST AI Risk Management Framework provides a structured, 7-step process (Prepare, Categorize, Select, Implement, Assess, Authorize, Monitor) to manage cybersecurity and privacy risks.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is a non-regulatory U.S. federal agency within the Department of Commerce. Founded in 1901, it advances measurement science, standards, and technology to improve economic security and quality of life.
OECD Intergovernmental Trustworthy AI Standard
OECD has produced an Inter Governmental Standard on AI, promoting Trustworthy AI that respects human rights. First introduced in 2019, it has since been updated in 2024.
The OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) is founded in 1961 to promote policies that improve economic and social well-being worldwide.
UNESCO Standard on AI Ethics
UNESCO has produced a Standard on AI Ethics, adopted by 194 member states. It focuses on "Do No Harm," human rights, and environmental flourishing.
UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) is a specialized UN agency that promote peace and security through international cooperation in education, sciences, culture, and communication.
